Now you know me or do you really?

What is a status on facebook? Some people say how they are feeling or what they are doing and then other people say the most random things! I personally don't care to update my status, ever! Unless someone puts something on there. I do not get why people spend hours a day just updating their status to let random people know what they are doing. Why do people feel obligated to write weird or personal things as their status for everyone to see.
